Branding and visual customization in UpVoter

What is branding in UpVoter?

Branding allows you to customize the appearance of your session so that it reflects the visual identity of your organization or event. You can independently configure logos, colors, and background images for two different views:

  • Projection View: the big screen (TV, projector) that the audience sees in the room.

  • Participant View: each attendee's smartphone screen.
  • This means you can have, for example, the event logo on the projection and your organization's logo on the mobile interface, or different background colors for each view.

    Access the branding panel

Inside the session management panel, open the Branding section in the sidebar menu.

    The panel has two tabs:

  • Projection: configures the look of the big screen.

  • Participant: configures the look of the voter's mobile device.
  • Changes in one tab do not affect the other. Each tab has its own Save button and its own Reset values button.

    > Customizations are not applied until you press Save. If you close the panel without saving, changes will be discarded.

    Projection Tab

    Projection logo

The image that appears in the top left corner of the projection screen, visible across all questions and slides of the session.

    To upload the logo:

  • Click Upload logo.

  • Select a PNG or JPG file. A PNG with a transparent background gives the best result over any background color.

  • The image is uploaded and immediately saved.
  • To remove it, click the trash can icon next to the image.

    Background image

The image used as the background for the entire projection. It automatically scales and centers to cover the entire screen without distortion.

    Background opacity

A slider from 0 to 100 that controls the intensity of the background image. The default value is 30, which provides a subtle effect that doesn't compete with the content. A value of 0 makes the image invisible; a value of 100 shows it at full intensity.

    Show title in projection

Controls whether the text of the question appears on the big screen. If disabled, the projection shows only the result bars and options, hiding the main prompt.

    Projection colors

    | Field | What it's for |
    |---|---|
    | Background color | Solid background of the screen (visible when there is no background image or it has low opacity) |
    | Primary color | Color of the result bars and the border of Q&A cards |
    | Font color | Text color in the projection (titles, labels, percentages) |
    | Correct bar color | Color of the correct answer's bar when revealed (green by default) |
    | Points / ranking color | Color of the position numbers and points on leaderboard slides (orange by default) |

    Participant Tab

    Welcome screen

When the session has the [UI_REQUEST_NAME] toggle activated (asking the participant for an alias), the branding from the Participant tab is also applied to the welcome screen where the attendee types their name before entering. The background, primary color, font color, and logo remain consistent with what they'll see during the rest of the session.

    Participant logo

The image that appears on the participant's mobile web app. This logo is completely independent of the projection logo. There is no fallback between the two: if no participant logo is uploaded, the participant view will not display any logo (it will remain empty), even if a logo has been uploaded in the projection tab.

    Show title to participant

Controls whether the poll topic or question prompt appears on mobile screens. It can be useful to disable it if the prompt is already projected on the big screen and you want participants to keep their eyes facing forward.

    Participant colors

    | Field | What it's for |
    |---|---|
    | Background color | Background of the mobile application |
    | Primary color | Color of the vote confirmation buttons and action elements |
    | Font color | Text color on the mobile interface |

    Save and reset

Save: applies the changes of the active tab. The projection and the participants' mobile phones will reflect the new colors and logos in a matter of seconds, without needing to refresh.

Reset values: reverts all fields of that tab (and only that tab) to their default values: neutral colors, no logo, no background image, opacity 30.

    Recommendations by event type

    Corporate event

  • Logo in PNG with transparent background, minimum 400px wide.

  • Primary color: the exact corporate color from your brand guidelines.

  • Background: image with blurred logo (opacity 15-25%) or no image.

  • Correct bar color: green if there are correct answers; same as primary color for opinion polls.
  • Assembly

  • No logo or the entity's logo.

  • Neutral and professional colors. Avoid highly saturated colors in formal voting.

  • No background image to force maximum clarity and screen legibility.
  • Dynamic event / gamification

  • Event logo or game name.

  • Striking primary color (oranges, purples, intense greens).

  • Background image with subtle texture, opacity 20-40%.

  • Points color in bright orange to make ranking numbers stand out.

  • Current limitations

  • No real-time preview: color changes are only previewed when you save and watch the actual projection or the participant's mobile device directly.
  • No automatic contrast verification: the system does not warn you if your chosen combination of background and font colors is hard to read. Check it visually before the event starts.
  • No predefined templates: the organizer configures everything from scratch in every new session, although a session can be duplicated to reuse its configuration.
  • Images are not automatically compressed: if you upload very large images, the initial load may be slow. It is highly recommended to optimize them before uploading.
